The $1.1 billion East End Crossing project provides a new highway connection between Clark County, Indiana and Jefferson County, Kentucky, completing the I-265/KY-841/ IN-265 freeway corridor in the eastern suburbs of Louisville. The design-build project consists of a new toll bridge over the Ohio River named for the famed explorers Lewis and Clark, and approaches on both sides. It is part of the $2.3 billion Louisville-Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges Project, which also includes a new I-65 bridge connecting Louisville, KY and Jeffersonville, IN, and major highway improvements on both sides of the river.
High Steel fabricated 6,670 tons of structural steel for the new 2,280 ft cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 1,200 ft. The bridge features six lanes for traffic and a 13 ft wide pedestrian/bikeway.
