The
engineering staff at High Steel Structures, Inc. is taking
the lead in new industry initiatives, such as Electronic
Drawing Transfer and "design intent," which greatly
streamline the drawing approval process. We are leading
the use of associative CAD/CAM software to generate CNC
data, which expedites the process while improving accuracy.
We also partner in research and development projects which
will ultimately provide savings to project owners, such
as the development of High Performance Steel and prefabricated
solutions for rapid bridge construction.
The
High Steel Engineering staff consists of over 40 co-workers
throughout the organization, including three Professional
Engineers, five Industrial Engineers, five programmers,
and 21 Engineering Technicians. We
have in-house design capacity for fabrication fixtures,
erection procedures, and heavy hauling supermoves.
High
Steel has substantial dedicated in-house detailing
capabilities, producing over 4,000 shop drawings per year.
Drawings are created by utilizing sophisticated bridge geometry
software in a computerized bridge program which High Steel
developed in-house specifically for our fabrication. We
supplement in-house detailing with the most qualified and
reliable outside detailers, with dedicated High Steel administrators
overseeing each project.
Our
Document Control System tracks and records all shop drawings
and drives our digital printing system. As required for
approval and distribution, our print shop can produce hard
copies of drawings for fabrication, contractors, owners
and erectors.
We
participate in national associations and committees to improve
the state of the art, including the AASHTO / NSBA Steel
Bridge Collaboration, the American Welding Society, AREMA,
and the Transportation Research Board.
