The completed bridge |
|
The landmark Danville-Riverside Bridge carries
State Route 54 over the North Branch of the Susquehanna River.
The new bridge was built to replace a 96-year-old truss bridge,
and the unique design was created through community feedback
in order to reflect the rich, historic nature of the communities
it connects.
The new bridge is a seven-span continuous composite steel girder structure, measuring 1,440 feet long and 54 feet wide. The design of the structure was optimized by the selection of unpainted, grade 50 weathering steel. High Steel’s Field Operations team erected the bridge from a causeway constructed halfway across the flow of the river.
